with Cara B.

Welcome to Esthetician’s Day Off—the not-so-quiet day off of a working esthetician and massage therapist who just can’t stop talking about skincare, muscles, product ingredients, and all things spa and wellness. This blog is where science meets self-care, where we nerd out on the how and why of your skin and body—while keeping things fun, practical, and maybe a little silly.

Whether you’re a spa newbie wondering what exfoliation actually does, a fellow practitioner wanting to geek out over fascia and lymph, or a wellness lover trying to make sense of your skincare shelf, this is your go-to guide for understanding your body from the outside in. Expect deep dives on ingredients, myth-busting product claims, real talk on skin changes through every life phase, fun facts you never knew you needed (like why your face feels puffy after tacos and tears) and tips to make your self-care routine more effective—and more joyful.

One of two blog arms of Rooted in Bloom, Esthetician’s Day Off is the spa-savvy sibling to The Hormonal Mama, our blog dedicated to reproductive wellness, hormones, and everything in between. Together, they offer a holistic approach to whole-person wellness—with Esthetician’s Day Off focusing on the body’s outermost layers, and The Hormonal Mama going deeper into the messy, magical world of hormones and healing.

I’m Cara B.—your skincare-obsessed, fascia-fascinated guide. I’m a licensed esthetician, licensed and board-certified massage therapist, nationally certified continuing education provider through NCBTMB, and a trained Integrative Wellness Coach. This blog is where I pour my passion for skin, bodywork, and education into bite-sized, easy-to-digest posts (sometimes literally).

Because “It’s my day off, and I’m taking the spa home with me!”—and lucky for you, you’re invited.
